THE LOGO
The Centre’s logo was designed and handrawn by devotees. The logo was later scanned, digitized and edited on the computer to provide the final result which you see above. So what does this logo represent? What is the meaning behind the words on each leaf?
The logo contains the five human values that form the foundation of Bhagavan Shirdi Sai Baba’s teachings: Love, Peace, Meditation, Non-Violence and Charity.

Love-The word love here refers to Prema which is divine love. All devotees are encouraged to love all and serve all. This is the essence of Baba’s teaching. We have to see everyone as equal and treat them with respect and love. This love should also extend to animals, plants and inanimate objects.

Peace-Shanti or Peace denotes the capacity to bear success and failure, joy and misery, defeat and victory, with perfect equanimity and Prema or Love is the quality of Sarvasamaanatha (equality of every one), of not only Ahimsa (non-violence) but the conscious acceptance of the duty of love, because every being is a spark of Divinity, as much of a spark as you yourself.

Meditation-Baba always encourages devotees to meditate on his formless nature and this is another important aspect of his teaching. Though Baba has taken a form in this world, his true nature is actually formless and in the Sai Satcharitra, he encourages devotees to try to meditate on his formless nature. If a devotee has difficulty doing so, then Baba encourages them to meditate on his form from head to toe.

Charity-Sai Baba has always taught us to be giving and this is one principle which the centre stands for. Devotees are encouraged to take part in charity events and perform seva. The centre organizes seva activities on large and small scales many times a year. The idea of charity is to teach us to see the divine in all beings and learn to love all those around us unconditionally.

Non-Violence-Ahimsa (Non-Violence) does not mean, as is commonly understood, not causing harm to others. It really means that one should not cause harm to anyone in thought, word or deed. This is the most important human quality. Only when this has been developed, will one be qualified to practice and experience Truth. Truth does not mean merely telling the facts as one sees or knows them. Truth is that which does not change with time. It must be spoken with complete purity of mind, speech and body.

Brief History

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Persatuan Shri Shirdi Sai Samaj Malaysia was firstly founded on 04/06/2008 at a renovated shop lot in Jalan Sentul with the registration number Reg. 0460/08/WKL. This centre was first formed with the main photograph of Sai and space that could fir about 200 people for prayer purposes. Our organization basically runs spiritual activites as per Sai's teachings with a team of comitee members that manage the center on a yearly basis.

BUILDING THE CENTRE
Construction of the centre actually began more than a month before the opening day. The shop lot previously housed a computer store and was left abandoned for almost 8 years. Among main work undertaken during the construction of the centre were:

a) Removing the carpeting on the floor;
b) Building a partition for the kitchen;
c) Tiling the bathroom;
d) Painting of the walls;
e) Painting of the floors with special floor paint;
f) Patching up holes on walls;
g) Building the main altar;
h) Setting up a simple audio system; and
i) Setting up the kitchen at the back of the centre.

The cleaning and painting process took almost 2 weeks and another week was then dedicated to the construction of the stage as well as other minor details. Through Baba’s blessings, all the work were undertaken by devotees themselves including wiring and lighting as well as building Baba’s prayer stage from scratch.
During the building of the stage, a temporary altar was set up and the first day prayers took place. The prayer was led by Bro. Devanand and was attended by members of the centre. Kaakad Arathi was sung followed by a short pooja. Once part of the main altar stage was completed, Baba’s photo which was framed was brought in and placed on the altar. On this day also, the parayanam of the Sai Satcharita (English translation by Indira Kher) begun at the centre. For the next 7 days, while the remaining parts of the centre were being prepared and constructed, the Sai Satcharita was read by Bro. Gunalan and Sis. Agnes.
As the saptaha continued, the altar was further built and Baba’s chair was brought into the centre, donated by a devotee.

OPENING OF THE CENTRE
After the 7-day parayanam of the Sai Satcharita, the building of the centre was completed and first day prayers/arathi was held on 23rd November 2006. The event was attended by more than 100 devotees from all over Klang Valley as well as from Seremban and other places. The main altar was completed a day before the opening ceremony. Baba’s main photo was hung; his padukas were placed on the altar. A small engraving of Ganesha was placed at the top of Baba’s photo. Blue lighting was placed below Baba’s main photo and spotlights fitted above the photos enhanced the photo and brought Baba to life as devotees received a spectacular darshan.
After almost a year and a few more additions, this is the current look of the altar. Among changes made to the altar were:
a) New fencing for the stage;
b) “AUM”, “SHRADHA” & “SABURI” wordings placed at the top; and
c) Baba’s photo above His chair.

HAIL, HAIL TO YOU, SAINATH,
REDEEMER OF SINNERS AND MERCIFUL ONE,
I LAY MY HEAD DOWN AT YOUR FEET,
NOW GIVE ME YOUR PROTECTION.
